Picture this … It’s March 2023 and Tena has been thinking about getting a dog. A friend told her about an Amish family who always seem to have puppies and dogs for sale. What Tena doesn’t realize is that her local shelter has 186 dogs in a space that is built to HUMANELY house 95 dogs. She’s unaware that there are shelters full of incredibly sweet dogs who have so much love to give. And that’s why we’re asking you to submit a photo and let us share your story.
Some Shelters Are Faced With The Very Difficult Decision Of Having To Choose Which Dogs Will Be Euthanized Simply Because Of The Lack Of Space
And what’s equally heartbreaking is that the dogs who get to see another day, spend it in a kennel. That means 24 hours – 23 hours and 45 minutes if they’re lucky to get out for a 15 minute break – with only sleep and longing to pass the time. With the high number of dogs, there just aren’t enough staff and volunteers to interact with each dog, let alone take them outside.
